Our 5 speed on our ford did that a lot, all you would have to do was not go into neutarl all the way and it jammed like other s said take the tower off and pry back into "N" be sure u have a brake on or block the wheels,I replaced the fork for the reverse fork in the tower part, it was worn and would slide over before it was in "N" fixed my problem. Welding a tiny bit on end of stick helps alot too. Dont ask me why it lets it back in but it does,most off the time. Pull up on the stick and go back to the last gear it was in and pick it back up then press down on stick even a tiny bit!! Had other trannys had to press down every shift or they were out of joint. I have a 'getrag' tranny in an ole Doge cummins that does that all the time. I remember he took the shift tower out and used a pry bar to put it back in "N". Dad fixed it, and I'm not sure what the problem was, but I think it had bad/missing snap ring or something when he got it apart. I agree with plowboy,probably nothing serious.May have to put a new ring in it or weld the shifter for tighter fit.
